Christine Bauer-Ramazani

Christine is an instructor of English and teacher trainer at Saint Michael's College in Vermont, U.S.A. Christine’s specialty is integrating technology into learning and teaching, a topic that she has presented on at conferences around the world. Christine authored and has been teaching a Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) course online at Saint Michael's College and also teaches an annual course in TESOL's Principles and Practices of Teaching Online Certificate program. In 2000 she co-founded the Electronic Village Online of TESOL. More recently she has focused on assessment of English language learning for TESOL accreditation and designed/taught a hybrid (face-to-face and distance) graduate course on curriculum and syllabus design. 

 

Muhammad Jufrianto

Jufrianto is a graduate student at Saint Michael's College and an English teacher at SMA Negeri 3 Takalar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. He began began teaching English at SMA Batara Gowa, a high school in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, he participated in a subsidized teaching program in a remote area of Indonesia teaching English to children.  In 2003, he returned to Takalar and accepted a full-time position at SMA Negeri 3 Takalar, a public school, teaching 12th grade English for the Natural Science, Social, and the Language Program.  Additionally, in 2009 I began tutoring international students and professionals in Bahasa, Indonesia's official language, at the State University of Makassar's Language Centre.

 

In 2011, he was granted the USAID-PRESTASI (Program to Extend Scholarships and Training to Achieve Sustainable Impacts) Scholarship to further his education in the United States. The goal of this program is to improve the performance and leadership skills of Indonesian professionals in the public and private sector, which, in turn, will help to promote future development in Indonesia.  Arriving at St. Michael’s College, Colchester, VT in Spring 2013, he began his graduate studies.  In May 2014,he will successfully complete his Master's Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. 

 

At Saint Mike’s,he experienced firsthand student-centered teaching using computer assisted language learning technology.  After graduation in May, he will return to Indonesia to resume teaching at SMA Negeri 3 Takalar and will take with him a wealth of experiential knowledge and principles learned from St. Mike’s excellent faculty, who have become his friends, and fellow students.  He pledges to work diligently each day to apply these principles in his classroom with his future Indonesian students.
