COMPOUND SENTENCES

  • A compound sentence contains two independent clauses joined by a coordinator.
  • Each clause has a subject and a verb.
  • The coordinators are: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so. 

 

Example 

 

     I tried to speak Spanish, and my friend tried to speak Spanish. 

 

 

ACTIVITY

      Directions:

  1. Make sure you are in EDIT mode.
  2. Change the word form.  Click on "word form" for thesaurus.
  3. Create a compound sentence. Click for explanation.
  4. Color code the subjects  in yellowverbs  in green, and thecoordinators and commas that precede them in red.
